BURNHAM’S own music group will be holding their annual winter concert getting audiences in the festive spirit.

The Burnham Music Group (BMG) will be hosting the Burnham Music Winter Concert at St Mary’s Church on Saturday December 10.

The concert will include Handel’s Messiah, several high-calibre guest artists and dozens of carols for all to get involved with.

Guest performers include Suzzanne Walker, Rebecca Dale and the Ellora Strings, accompanied by Steve Pritchard, conducted by Terry Saunders.

Rebecca Dale completed an Opera Course at the Advanced Performers Studio and has worked with some of today’s leading directors, conductors and performers.

Her solo work has included Here (in Circles) by award winning Dutch composer Michel van der Aa, Mass No.2 in G Major by Schubert and Beethoven’s Symphony No 9. Rebecca works regularly with Lost Chord and Music in Hospitals producing and performing therapeutic concerts.

Steve Pritchard taught at St Peter’s School (now Ormiston Rivers Academy) in Burnham for 13 years with his mentor, Peter Dale, the BMG Founder. He now teaches children and adults individual instruments on a one to one basis. He also teaches them to sing as this assists their learning of music.

He was appointed BMG Accompanist and Concert Continuo in January 2016 after the retirement of Tom Potten.

Suzzanne Walker has worked extensively in opera and theatre around London, composing many symphonies and recital concerts, performing regularly.

The BMG have been holding winter concerts for several years, with this year’s guest marking one of the biggest and most memorably productions that they will hold.

Whilst they bring in excellent guest performers, the heart of the group is its members, and they are always very pleased to see new additions.

They meet regularly every Tuesday evening at 7.45pm at Burnham Primary School during term time. Everyone is welcome, with no auditions, just a love of singing and a chance to meet new friends.

The winter concert will be held on Saturday December 10 from 7.45pm at St Mary’s Church on Southminster Road.

Tickets are £12, £10 for concessions with anyone under 16 going in free.

Tickets can be purchases from The Limes Farm Shop and Savage Chemist, and also from their box office.
