DRUGS and offensive weapons were found during a police raid.

Officers from Chelmsford and Maldon Community Policing Team executed a warrant at a residential property in Hadrians Way, Maldon, today.

Acting on information from the public, officers obtained a warrant from the courts to search the premises and found a number of offensive weapons - including a taser - along with an imitation firearm.

During the search officers also found nine wraps of white powder believed to be cocaine, 13 individually wrapped bags of cannabis and two bags containing approximately 40 blue tablets. Each item was seized to be forensically examined.

A 17-year-old boy from Maldon was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and possession with intent to supply and was taken to Chelmsford custody. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Pc Claire Forster from Chelmsford and Maldon Community Policing said: "It is vital that our communities feel supported in tackling drug dealing which can be a magnet for associated crime and anti-social behaviour, today we have seen a positive result following information received from the public.”

Anyone with concerns about drug dealing is asked to contact police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org
