A MOTHER from Heybridge has donated more than a thousand pounds worth of priceless items to Broomfield Hospital in aid of charity.

Poppy Wright, 24, of Creasen-Butt Close, has donated a cuddle cot – a specialised piece of equipment designed to keep baby cool allowing parents to spend up to 72 hours with them – plus £410 worth of memory boxes to the hospital in partnership with the charity 4Louis.

4Louis was set up to aid grieving parents of stillborn babies by providing memory boxes so that parents can capture the memories of their child whilst coping with their loss.

The boxes include a clay impressions kit, teddies, a card, candle, SD card to store photographs and an acknowledgement of life certificate.

The charity also donates photography equipment and cuddle cots to hospitals.

The charity is very personal to Poppy, whose son Archie was stillborn in December last year.

She said: “Losing Archie last year was devastating to us, but when I found out about 4Louis afterwards I knew I wanted to help and support them.

“There are millions of parents in the country who suffer miscarriages or stillbirths, and these guys are truly wonderful people whose work helps these people so much to come to terms with their loss.

Poppy and her partner Ryan Jackson have been raising the funds for the cot and memory boxes since February.

With each box costing £30 and cot £1,600, the couple have raised just over £2,000 for the items, which were bought by 4Louise and donated by Poppy to Broomfield.

Poppy added: “I’m so proud that we managed to exceed our goal and do this in Archie’s name, I really hope this will bring about awareness for 4Louis as the work they do is outstanding and should be recognised.”
