A DOG groomer from Burnham will be teaming up with a Maldon District rescue centre to help raise funds for their cause.

Daniela Forshaw, owner of Daniela’s Dogs in Burnham, will be joined by Clarks Farm Greyhound Rescue at the Essex Dog Day this Sunday.

Taking place at Crix Showground in Hatfield Peverel, there will be a pop-up salon from Daniela’s Dogs featuring greyhounds from the rescue centre, as well as representatives from the charity to help raise awareness for their cause.

They will be hosting a luxury lucky dip fundraiser, with donated items from various companies including photo shoots, canvases, dog collars, toys and treats, with each attendant guaranteed a prize.

Clarks Farm aims to help rehome some of the thousands of racing greyhounds who retire each year, as some are as young as two-years-old, and want to boost their presence in the district to increase the good they can do.

About the event, Daniela said: “I’m hoping to raise awareness about how hard it is for small local charities to attend shows as they do not have sufficient funds for a marketing budget.

“The set up costs for hosting a stall at the show, organising the fund raiser and other running costs, are far greater than what the charity would raise in financial donations on the day if they funded the event themselves.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for people to meet the greyhounds and speak to Clarks Farm representatives about the greyhounds and the charity.

“Ex Clarks Farm Greyhound Ferrari attended the show last year and ended up on my sofa the next day as I adopted her myself.”

Essex Dog Day takes place at the Crix on London Road in Hatfield Peverel on Sunday from 10am to 5pm. For more information, visit: www.essexdogday.org.
