WITHAM’S MP has called on Essex County Council to take action to ensure bus routes operated by Hedingham Omnibuses continue to run.

MP Priti Patel has urged residents affected by the possible cancellation of the 91/92/95 services to contact her office or Cllr Eddie Johnson at Essex County Council directly to make their views known following numerous concerns from constituencies.

Earlier this month, the Standard reported that Hedingham bus had proposed to close Tollesbury bus depot and axe routes 91, 92 and 95 which go from Tollesbury through to Colchester, Witham and Maldon.

Ms Patel said: “The services operated by Hedingham provide a crucial transport link for residents between Tollesbury, Maldon, Witham and Colchester.

“They offer vital access to GP Clinics, schools, railway hubs and shopping centres across the county for constituents in rural villages and hamlets, it is essential that the County Council take necessary steps to ensure that these services are fully maintained.

“I am currently working with the County Council to seek assurances that they will maintain these routes and would recommend any residents concerned or affected by the proposed changes to contact myself so that I can make their opinions known.”
