HEYBRIDGE Primary School has been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted following an inspection this month.

Pupils, staff and governors are absolutely delighted with the result as Ofsted judged the school to be ‘Good’ in every single area of the school.

The news comes as a huge relief to the school, on Rowan Drive, which in June 2014 was told it needed to improve all areas, and was previously placed in special measures in 2011.

The latest Ofsted report praised the Early Years Provision and the leadership of the school, stating a culture of high expectations had been created for all.

The report also highlighted the ‘outstanding’ personal development of pupils, enthusiastic learning, excellent provisions for pupils with disabilities, and the pupils’ school pride and relationships with parents.

Simon Waltham, head teacher at the school, said: “I am immensely proud of the school and this outcome. It is a positive reflection of the belief and vision of the Heybridge community that their school would be and now is ‘Good’.

“Everyone who is involved with the school should feel rightly proud of their role in raising standards. We are now using this as a solid foundation to work towards becoming an outstanding school.”

The school were also pleased that Ofsted recognised that the advice of the academy chain, school leaders, including governors, helped make important changes fundamental to move the school forward.

The primary school is part of TKAT (The Kemnal Academies Trust), and the rating has come as fantastic news for them.

Both the trust and the school now want to carry on working hard to try and achieve an ‘Outstanding’ rating for when the next inspection takes place.

Karen Roberts, CEO at TKAT, said: “Ofsted’s ‘Good’ rating is an absolutely fantastic result for Heybridge Primary School. Their judgement is a valued recognition of the hard work put in by the school’s leadership, staff, children, parents and the local community in driving progress and standards.

“Well done to all at the school, and we at TKAT look forward to working with them on their journey to ‘Outstanding’.”
