A DISABLED carer has criticised parents who park outside her house while on the school run.

Lorraine Lazaro, 55, lives in West Ley in Burnham, and is a full time carer for her daughter Josie, 17, who has autism and learning difficulties.

But she says she is left with nowhere to park when parents pick their children up from nearby Burnham County Primary School in Dunkirk Road.

The family has been forced to park on the grass area outside their home.

Lorraine has called for parents to park more responsibly after her son Carl was involved in a verbal altercation with one parent when he returned home and asked her to move her car forward.

She said: “I have got a friend who lives in one of the houses who has had to use bollards to keep her driveway clear.

“My car used to have a disabled sticker on the back and they used to park across the back of it.”

Lorraine said parents continue to drop off and pick up their children on the zigzag lines outside the school despite fears it could lead to a fatal accident.

She added: “They are putting their own children in danger.

“I have lived in this house for 18 years and my children went to that school and it has got worse and worse as the years have gone on.”

In February worried grandmother Glyness Rowell called on parents to park more responsibly fearing it could lead to a serious accident.

Headteacher Kelly Stock said changes had since been introduced.

She said: “I am very happy to confirm that myself and teachers now go out every morning and at the end of school to encourage parents not to park dangerously. Parents have responded very positively and we even now have a local police car on patrol to help us.”
