FIRE fighters were called to tackle a car on fire in Steeple at the weekend.

A crew were called to Batts Road, Steeple in the early hours of Sunday May 29 after reports of a car on fire in a ditch.

The crew used a single jet hose and wore breathing apparatus to fight the blaze and the fire was extinguished at 5.26am.

A spokesperson for Essex Fire and Rescue said: “A fire crew from Tillingham station were sent to Batts Road, Steeple at 4.21am on Sunday May 29 after reports of a car on fire in a ditch.

“Crews tended the fire with a single jet hose and breathing apparatus and it was extinguished by 5.26am.

“The fire service is investigating the cause of the fire, which has not yet been determined.”

No one was reported to be injured as a result of the fire.
