A CHURCH is set to launch a scheme to help get unemployed Maldon residents back into work.

Members of Fullbridge Church have undergone specialised training by Christians Against Poverty in order to offer the free clubs.

The weekly workshops will aim to boost job hunting by helping those who are unemployed with the required skills and tools.

Job Club Manager Andrew Mugford, who will be leading the workshops, said: “With more people facing long-term unemployment, there is a real need for a personal service which provides practical and emotional support for people to find work again.

“Christians Against Poverty Job Clubs is designed to do just this.”

Mr Mugford said the club would be working with the Job Centre and Citizens Advice Bureau to provide the best possible service.

The weekly course will inlcude one-to-one consultations, group support and practical sessions that cover topics such as identifying strengths, CV writing and interview techniques.

Mr Mugford said: “We hope that we can help people to gain the confidence and skills they need to find employment, particularly for those who may have been out of work for a long period of time.”

The club will run weekly starting from February 23rd at 10.30am in the church, located beside the roundabout to Tesco and next to Kwik Fit at the bottom of Market Hill.
