A public consultation on the future of the fire service which could see Burnham lose one of its two fire engines has begun.
Essex Fire and Rescue Service have proposals of three models of how the fire service could operate by 2020.
They hope the scheme, called Programme 2020, will deliver a community focused and financially sustainable service for the future.
However, all options propose to remove Burnham’s high-mobility, all terrain Pinzgauer fire appliance and turn South Woodham Ferrers fire station into an on-call centre.
