PLANS to revamp a crumbling family-run industrial estate have attracted opposition from council officers.
A multi-million pound plan to upgrade the Leigh Industrial Estate, on The Causeway, Heybridge, was unveiled by owner Gareth Spero in February.
Plans for the run-down estate, founded by his grandfather in 1960, would ensure around 190 new jobs and see around 200 homes built.
However, planning officers at Maldon District Council have lodged objections, claiming the benefits of the development are outweighed by a lack of affordable housing and a loss of employment space.
