A headteacher says pupils will benefit after his school joined an academy trust.

Maylandsea Primary School has joined Eveleigh Link Academy Trust following a consultation with parents and staff.

The trust was started at Purleigh Primary School two years ago and includes Meadgate Primary School and Maltese Road Primary School, both in Chelmsford.

Headteacher Dr Nicholas Rudman said staff now pooled their resources.

He said: "It's about improving what we do in the best interests of the children and the community."
