The owner of a rescue home which has saved nearly 1,500 dogs from death has applied for retrospective planning permission so its work can carry on into the future.

In January 2013, Charley Nathan began a ten month project to turn a simple livery yard in Burnham Road, Latchingdon, into the AA Dog Rescue centre.

But the centre, which has rescued nearly 1,500 dogs from the UK, Spain and Romania, has now grown to the point where Charley believes planning permission to formalise the change of use is required.

Charley said: "It’s not just rescuing dogs, we do other things as well.

“We have started giving talks to schools and responsibility and being kind to animals, we are trying to educate the community.”

A decision is expected to be made by the end of the month.
