Haircut donations and a sponsored walk will support a meningitis charity after the infection nearly killed a“miracle” boy at birth.
Sophia Avery, 26, of Hall Estate, Goldhanger, was terrified when her son Taylor, now six, battled the killer disease.
To raise funds and awareness of the illness, mobile and salon-based hairdresser Sophia is donating £3 from every cut she carries out to Meningitis Now.
She said: “We are so lucky and extremely happy Taylor is alive and well and survived meningitis.”
She is planning a children’s sponsored walk on August 25 to raise more money for the charity.
The five-mile walk will take place along the Goldhanger sea wall to Osea Leisure Park.
Sophia said: “Any mums, nans, aunties, sisters, any women and children can come and join in the walk with us.”
