A carp fisherman is keen to name and shame the burglars who stole thousands of pounds worth of customised rods.

Paul Ewers, of Mayland, is fuming after burglars broke into his garage and stole his blue and white Yamaha GP1800 jet ski along with more than £8,500 worth of fishing gear, including six Nash rods, four of which have his name engraved into them.

Mr Ewers, who owns Dengie Fencing, said: “There are so many burglaries, I just can’t believe it.

“It’s made me feel sick to think I have been broken into.

“If I catch these people, I would rather name and shame and say these are scum.

“If they go to court, they will just get a slap on the wrist.”

The Standard recently reported on three burglars who had carried out a series of break ins in Mayland in the space of two hours on April 14.

No-one has been arrested in connection with these.
