A health care assistant has suggested dogs should be kept on leads in Prom Park after a second attack.
Andrea Monro’s Yorkshire terrier Tinkerbell needed more than £350 in veterinary treatment after she was attacked by a collie, which had been off the lead near the foot huts.
Mum-of-two Miss Monro said: “I reported the attack to Maldon District Council and the police, but they didn’t want anything to do with it.
“But where do you go when things like this happen?
“If I read in the paper a few weeks later that this dog had bitten a child, I would really feel bad if I hadn’t gone down all the routes I could to get this guy to muzzle or put his dog on a lead.”
Last month, the Standard reported how three small dogs belonging to one owner had been attacked.
Maldon District Council does not currently ask dog owners to keep their pets on a lead while in Prom Park.
However, a council spokesman said: “The Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 will give us new powers which may enable us to review this.”
