A MOTORIST has been arrested following a fatal crash on the M11.

Police attended a fatal road collision on the M11 northbound near the junction for Saffron Walden.

It happened just after 1.30pm on Friday and involved a white VW Transport van, a black Ford Focus and a silver VW Golf.

The 47-year-old from Chatham in Kent died at the scene after the black Ford Focus he was travelling was involved in a collision in lane two of the motorway.

Three other people have been injured and were taken to hospital.

One of them, the driver of the VW Transport van, a 40-year-old man from Sidcup, was later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He has been bailed pending further police enquiries until Wednesday, June 24.

The Northbound carriageway was closed until 7pm yesterday afternoon.
