Tina-Jane Nye, 42, and husband Barry, 48, have raised £30,000 for Muscular Dystophy Campaign's efforts to find a cure for the condition which affects their son Georgie, seven.

Tina-Jane, of Finchland View, South Woodham Ferrers, said she was thrilled at the support from friends, family and firms.

She said: "They have really rallied round.

"We had a market stall, people selling cupcakes, comedy evenings, anything people can do.

"We have done bike rides and I collect handbags, clothes, shoes, anything to sell.

"People don't have money they can shell out every five minutes, but they can have a clear-out for us and then I can sell it."
