Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road collision which has left a driver fighting for his life.

Two vehicles, a green Peugeot 206 and a black Jaguar X-type, were in collision at the junction of Main Road and Jubilee Avenue, Broomfield, at around 2.30pm today (Monday, December 15).

The driver of the Peugeot, a 60-year-old man from the Chelmsford area, has been taken to the Royal London Hospital by ambulance with serious life-threatening injuries.

Main Road is currently closed from its junction with White Meads to the hospital roundabout.

Motorists are advised this closure is likely to be in place for at least another two hours.
