The East Anglian air ambulance was called to a man in Burnham struggling to breathe.
An ambulance trust spokesman said: "We received a call at 9.10am on Monday to a male patient who was suffering from respiratory problems.
"We sent a community first responder, an ambulance crew and East Anglian air ambulance to Southminster Road, Burnham."
The patient was taken to Broomfield Hospital by ambulance.
