BUS users had a 1.5 hour wait after one vehicle broke down and a replacement bus wouldn’t start.
Crowds of people were left waiting after the 10.25am 31X Burnham service broke down yesterday.
Alex Jennings, 83, of Burnham, said: “I eventually got to Maldon.
“It was very bad considering we’re supposed to be receiving a better service.”
Mr Jennings also highlighted that one of the 31X service vehicles is known locally as the “fish tank bus” because one of its double glazed windows contains water.
He said: “It’s about a third full and the filty water sloshes backwards and forwards.
“I reported it months ago and can’t understand why they haven’t done anything about it.”
A First spokesman said: "Unfortunately the 10.25am 31X service did not run due to a breakdown yesterday.
"The cleanliness of our vehicles is one of our highest priorities.
“We are aware one window needs replacing on the bus and this will be fixed as soon as possible."
