A brave fundraiser is organising a roller disco to raise money for a national cancer charity.

Jacki Ithier, 47, of Wordsworth Avenue, Maldon, who works at Chelmsford Audi, is adding her second roller disco to her list of fundraising events.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 and started fundraising to take her mind off her cancer treatment.

She has previously organised snooker events with Ronnie O’Sullivan and raised thousands doing a sky dive, while in the middle of chemotherapy.

Jackie said: “I started to do these things because it took my mind off my illness and made me forget about going into hospital every other day for tests as well as giving me a few sleepless nights.

“If people like me don’t do things for charity, the ability to help other people in the future won’t be there.

“Helen Rollason are kept going by charity fundraising and without it they wouldn’t be able to continue.”

The roller disco is at Sk8ters, Madison Heights, Maldon on October 19, from 6.30-8.30pm.

Tickets cost £5 including skate hire.
