Cameras were rolling on a Burnham farm this summer, to film a ‘farmers bootcamp’.

In June camera crews descended on Dammerwick Farm, Marsh Road, Burnham, to film part of Farmers Apprentice.

The programme puts ten young farmers through their paces at farming bootcamp.

The farmers face tasks and challenges, Apprentice-style, with the winner leaving with a £10,000 prize.

At Dammerwick Farm contestants were asked to use Bayer Weed Spotter books and identify six weeds common in arable crops.

The second part tested maths skills by asking the young farmers to take a sprayer recommendation and convert it into the amount of chemical they would need to order.

Herbicide Campaign Manager at Bayer, Phillippa Overson, said appearing on screen for the series was frightening.

She said: “Filming for Farmers Apprentice was a bit nerve wracking, so I can’t even imagine what it was like for the Apprentices.

“Dammerwick Farm provided the perfect scenery and the Farmers Apprentice crew was very professional, making this a great experience overall.”
