A housing firm has submitted a scaled back planning application for 45 homes.

CML Microsystems originally planned to build 146 homes at the Oval Park site, Hatfield Road, Langford.

This application was refused in August 2012 and a further appeal was dismissed in July 2013.

A new application for the demolition of existing structures and construction of 45 residential units and respective access and landscaping was submitted to Maldon District council on August 13.

CML headquarters are already based at Oval Park and the company has owned the site for more than 20 years.

As the previous application was refused, CML have reduced by 70% the number of proposed units.

There is also to be no residential development near Beavis Hall, a grade II listed building, and affordable housing will be provided in line with planning policy.

In addition to 45 houses, the application also plans for a play area, parking and open space.
