Football mad friends raised thousands for a local hospice by visiting all the league clubs in England in 92 hours.

Matt Cawston, 27, of Bridgemans Green, Latchingdon and Nick Smith, 29, Mike Cawston, 29, Tony Baker, 31, and Andrew Scullion, 29, all of South Woodham Ferrers, expected to cover 2,500 miles to raise money for Little Havens Hospice, which cares for children with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

The football fans came up with the ‘92 in 92’ challenge, visiting all 92 football league football clubs in England in 92 hours, raising more than £5,500.

The lads left Southend United’s Roots Hall stadium on August 26, finishing at Colchester United on August 30, 87 hours, 49 minutes and 14 seconds after they began.

Teacher Nick Smith said: “Although we faced several difficulties, such as traffic and road closures, we managed to visit all 92 grounds.

“It was an incredible experience which was made even more special knowing that we were raising money for Little Havens."
