Residents believe the arrival of 120 homes would “spoil” their village.
Gladman Developments has applied to Maldon District Council for a screening request for 120 new homes on a 5.85 hectare field off Maldon Road, Great Totham, next to Staplers Walk and The Bull pub.
The new homes would be of varying sizes and 30 per cent would be affordable housing for local people.
Mum-of-three Ebony Fulcher, 27, of Staplers Walk, said: “It will spoil it here.
“The only reason we were attracted to this estate was because it is quite small.”
In its application, Gladman Developments states: “The development is similar in nature to the surrounding housing and will not have any complex, hazardous or significant environmental effects.”
