A throng on brightly coloured sails packed the River Crouch as the historic East Coast Regatta kicked off.
Scores of boats and dinghies raced along the river during the opening weekend of Burnham Week.
This iconic regatta, which has been taking place annually for more than 100 years, runs over eight days, from August 23-30 August.
