The new children’s play area in Southminster was officially opened on Friday.

A ceremony was held at the new play area, near the King George V memorial fields, to formally “cut the ribbon” and open the park.

Councillor Norman Hume, chairman of Essex County Council, Burnham’s Town Mayor councillor Ron Pratt, and representatives from companies who helped to fund the £90,000 revamp of the old play area attended the ceremony.

These included David Wilson Homes, Magnox, Essex County Council and several local residents.
