Emotions ran high as Plume students collected their A Level results, during a record breaking results year for the school.

Boxes of tissues were at the ready at Plume School, but pupils made new school records with 44.4% of entries getting A*, A or B grades.

A Level and BTEC scores were through the roof with several students being awarded A*s and Double or even Triple Distinction grades.

Plume head, David Stephenson, said: “I’m always proud of the children but I’m very pleased almost everybody has got to do what they want to do.

“It’s not about crunching data, it’s about whether the kids are in the right classes and will lead fulfilled lives and make a difference in the community.

“Many of the parents came here and there is a very strong sense of community which is very important.

“It’s very positive.

“Quite a few schools are selective, but we have classes that suit a full range of students, we give them a chance."
