Organisers of the Brownstock Festival will appear in court appealing Maldon District Council’s decision to limit the size of their crowds.
They had hoped to increase the crowd capacity of the festival from 5,999 to 15,000 over the next five years but the council’s licensing sub-committee decided this should remain at 5,999, as it was concerned about safe management of the crowds.
The festival organisers are now appealing the decision.
Dates for a hearing at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court have been set for November 17 and 24.
