Speed checks caught more than 100 offenders in two days in July.

Checks between July 23 and July 25 caught 27 offenders on Maldon Road at Great Totham, 22 offenders at Witham Road, Wickham Bishops and 53 at Fambridge Road, Hazeleigh.

The checks were carried out in response to concerns raised by the Wickham Bishops residents.

Ian Wardrop, 67, parish councillor and Speedwatch coordinator for Wickham Bishops, said residents were determined to see a reduction in speed.

He said: “There have been concerns in the village about speeding for some time.

“Traffic through the village is regularly travelling at quite a speed.

“The road also has a lot of pedestrian movements.”
