A teenage cyclist got to ride part of the Tour de France course.

Lucy Harper, 16, rode 30km in Cambridge and completed a sprint finish in Stamford, Cambridgeshire, then was taken to Walthamstow for another 30km leg and a sprint finish up The Mall in London.

The William De Ferrers Academy pupil of Fambridge Road, North Fambridge, was one of eight young riders chosen on Monday.

Mum Melanie said: “We are just blown away by the whole experience, it’s just been incredible.”

Lucy is riding her first junior year for Bike Pure Velotech, which is sponsored by three-time Tour de France winner Greg LeMond.
