First published in Local News

Plans to relocate Danbury post office have been abandoned because residents were against the move.

Post Office Ltd had wanted to move it from Main Road to Roseco Stores in Maldon Road.

It would have meant longer opening hours.

But there were 140 response during a public consultation, most of them opposed to the move, although there was a petition in support.

Consumer Futures, the independent consumer watchdog for the Post Office network, also raised concerns.

Residents said the current location was more centrally located and easy to walk and drive to, or get a bus to.

Any new plans to relocate will go out to consultation.
