Vintage bi-planes that haven’t been on UK soil since 1918 put on a spectacular show to commemorate Armed Forces Day.
The special tribute attracted nearly 1,000 visitors at one of the UK’s ten surviving First World War aerodromes in Stow Maries on Saturday 29 June.
The free event featured the BE2 bi-planes air display, competitive drill displays and missile runs by over 60 Air and Sea Cadets to pay tribute to all types of servicemen and veterans.
Maldon District Council clubbed together with the Great War Aerodrome to host the show there for the first time which was a resounding success.
Aerodrome operations manager Russell Savory said: “It was great to see all the veterans and they absolutely loved to see the old planes flying again."
