An elderly couple are opening their garden to the public, to raise money for charity after their daughter-in-law and grandson died from epilepsy.

Pat and Terry Hudson-Hobbs, 89, of Chapel Road, Tolleshunt D'Arcy, have been working on their Victorian cottage garden at Chapel Road, Tolleshunt D'Arcy for more than 20 years.

They do all the gardening work themselves, including tending an 180ft privet hedge.

Terry served in Bomber Command during World War Two and puts his attention to detail down to his career as an aeronautical engineer.

Pat is the 'artistic director' in the partnership.

Both their daughter-in-law and grandson died of Sudden Unexplained Death from Epilepsy (SUDEP).

Grandson Jamie lived, went to school and is buried in Tolleshunt D'Arcy.

The Open Gardens are raising money for The Epilepsy Society to help them continue their research.

The event takes place on Saturday and Sunday in Tolleshunt D'Arcy.

Entrance is £4 per person and free for children, parking available at St Nicholas Primary School.
