An apprentice on his way home for lunch helped save a man’s life.
Trained first aider Luke Songer, 21, put his life-saving skills into action for the first time when he came across a man collapsed underneath a car in Holloway Road, Heybridge.
Luke, of Crescent Road, Heybridge, had cycled past, thinking he had been working on the engine.
But he decided to go back and found he had no pulse.
Luke, an electrical mechanical apprentice at Youngman Group in The Causeway, Heybridge, flagged down a passing driver and asked her to dial 999 while he started chest compressions and mouth to mouth resuscitation.
