Fire crews tackled a burning field of standing crops this afternoon.
Crews arrived at the scene in Mayland Close, Mayland, and reported that half of the field, measuring 200m by 200m was well alight.
Initially one appliance was sent to the scene, but on arrival, the incident commander requested an additional crew for manpower.
Firefighters reported they had the burning crop under control by 3.58pm.
The farm owner was on the scene and assisting with a tractor and water bowser.
The incident was dealt with shortly after 4pm and left in the care of the farmer.
The fire is believed to have been triggered by a stray flare being let off nearby.
