The latest bid has been made to build a solar farm in Great Totham.
Lightsource Renewable Energy hopes to install 39,606 photovoltaic panels, enough to power 3,198 homes, on fields south of Beckingham Road.
Maldon District Council refused its previous plans for 43,054 panels last December.
Under the new plans, panels will be installed singly, to keep the overall height of the solar farm down, and placed further back from the northern side of the site to reduce visual impact.
Residents have until June 6 to send their views to Maldon District Council, which will make a decision on the application.
