Bus passengers have won a four year fight for a better service, after complaints of buses breaking down, not turning up and being infrequent.
First Group’s UK Bus Division has promised changes to the 31X, which runs from Burnham to Chelmsford via Maldon.
The new timetable, due to be introduced from the end of August, includes:
* Half hourly instead of hourly buses from Chelmsford to Burnham, Monday to Saturday
* An earlier journey from Maldon to Chelmsford (Monday to Friday) to arrive before 6.30am
* A possible extension of the 10.15pm Chelmsford to Maldon journey to Burnham
* Some of the new journeys will go through Upper Althorne, where the 31X was withdrawn in 2009.
