Parish councillors have rejected a proposal for two dozen new homes because 27 houses are already being built in the village.

The Dean and Chapter of St Paul’s Cathedral, which owns the land, hopes to build 24 houses at Tillingham Hall Farm in North Street, Tillingham.

Robert Harvey, Chairman of Tillingham Parish Council, said “The parish council, in a majority decision, voted against the proposals.

“We are aware that there is a good deal of concern in the village about this.”

Resident Tracey Silcock, 44, an event manager, of North Street, said:

"I have to put in planning applications to change anything about my house, how are they able to build 24 new homes, in a conservation area, straight away?"
