A generation of silver surfers are learning how to shop online using iPads and laptops.
Eight adult learners visited the Knightswood Day Care centre, Steeple Road, Southminster to complete the 10 week course in basic computer skills.
With no previous computer skills and an average age of 80, some learnt on laptops, while others were on iPads, depending on their skill.
They learnt how to use apps, do online shopping and send and receive emails.
Barbara Harris, a retired school cook, of Orwell Way, Burnham said she never dreamt she would be learning how to use the internet at the age of 84.
She said: ”I have been doing a bit at home because my daughter has a laptop and computer.
“I can now shop online, reply to emails and look things up."
