A musician has been nominated for a national award.

Richard Townend, from Mundon, is competing for the British Blues Awards Songwriter of the Year Award for the third year running.

Now with The Mighty Boss Cats, he has previously worked as a session musician with celebrity names such as Tony Christie, The Platters, Ronnie Corbett and Charlie Drake.

He is up against five other nominees chosen by a panel of judges and shortlisted for the public vote.
