The new mayor of Burnham says it is an honour and a privilege to be chosen.
Ron Pratt, of Old Heath Road, Southminster was elected mayor by Burnham Town Council on May 7.
Mr Pratt is also a Maldon District Councillor.
He said: “Having been involved in local government for more than 40 years and a member of Burnham Town Council for the past seven, I realise there is a lot of work to do.”
Mr Pratt intends to prioritise the Neighbourhood Plan, fighting for the recycling centre and maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the area.
He said: “Through my position as both town mayor and district councillor, I am striving to maintain the town’s appeal to residents and tourists alike by keeping our public areas clean and safe.”
