A Royal British Legion branch will disband after almost 100 years.

The Southminster branch of the Royal British Legion, which began in the 1920s, will soon cease to exist because there were not enough members volunteering to be officers.

The branch, which now only has 13 members with only four or five meeting on a regular basis, used to have more than 40 members at its height.

Member Bob English, who has acted as a secretary, treasurer and poppy appeal organiser for years, said rules meant seperate members had to take up the different roles.
