A student will appear in court after he was charged with assaulting a Maldon teenager.

The 16-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was first assaulted in Noakes Avenue, Chelmsford at 4pm on March 5.

She was later assaulted at Great Baddow recreation ground on March 27 shortly before 8am.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested at his Chelmsford home on March 28 and has now been charged with two counts of assault and one count of criminal damage relating to the same incident on March 5 and involved a mobile telephone.

The boy, who also cannot be named for legal reasons, is currently on police bail prior to his appearance at Chelmsford Youth Court on May 9.
