A retired couple have been given a new lease of life after they were offered a new home.
Pensioners Geoff and Pam Burton were given the chance to downsize into a two-bedroom bungalow in Maldon after they found their old three-bedroom Heybridge house was becoming too much to manage.
Colne housing association, alongside Maldon District Council, demolished an old scout hut in St Giles Crescent and built two new bungalows, specifically for those aged over 55 and looking to downsize.
One bungalow was officially handed to great-grandparents Mr and Mrs Burton, who have been married for 58 years, last Tuesday but they had moved in beforehand.
