A four-figure sum of cash has been stolen from car park ticket machines in Maldon “by an organised gang.”

Thieves targeted more than eight machines in Butt Lane car park and the Promenade Park car park this week, damaging some and stealing the money inside.

Six machines were forced open and the cash was stolen from inside in Promenade Park between 9pm last Tuesday and 9.30am last Wednesday.

An attempt to enter two machines in Butt Lane car park was made between 6pm on Thursday and 9am on Friday.

Why was that amount of money left in the machines overnight? Surely they should emptied daily?

The machines in Butt Lane have a sticker on them saying that 'No Cash Is Left In This Machine Overnight' or words to that effect...I have would assume that the ones in the Prom would be similar.

Maybe MDC should have a similar notice on their offices....'No Tools Are Left In These Offices Overnight.- Because They've All Gone Home!'
