Plans to overhaul the management structure of Maldon District Council to save up to £180,000 a year are under way.
Councillors decided last month to cut senior management positions in a bid to slash the council’s salary bill.
The authority currently has seven heads of service, a chief executive and a strategic director, with pay scales for these jobs ranging from £53,025 to £103,020.
The decision means some of these employees could be made redundant.
Bob Boyce, leader of Maldon District Council, said that the council’s budget has been “robustly challenged” because it is receiving £453,000 less from the Government than the last financial year - a drop by 41 per cent compared to five years ago.
