Children around Maldon and the Dengie will learn about their local cultural history for free, thanks to the Thames Sailing Barge Trust.
The Trust received an £100,000 grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund in August 2013 and has launched a free information pack for primary schoolchildren.
The pack teaches pupils of all ages about the history and development of the Blackwater River and the Dengie area.
David Gibson, trustee of the Thames Sailing Barge Trust said: “One of the key aims of the Trust is to educate the public and in particular young people as to the historic and cultural role of Thames sailing barges.”
