Eleven schools in the district have been awarded for being healthy.

A Healthy Schools award was given to All Saints Primary School in Maldon, Cold Norton Primary School, CSS Centre Mid in Heybridge, Latchingdon Primary School, Maylandsea Primary School, Plume School, Purleigh Primary School, St Francis Primary School in Maldon, Tollesbury School, Wentworth Primary School and Woodham Water Primary School.

The awards, which recognise the schools achievements in supporting the health and wellbeing of their pupils, were handed out by Essex county councillors Ann Naylor and Ray Gooding.

Mr Gooding said: “I am delighted to see so many of our schools picking up awards, demonstrating the excellent work schools are doing to raise the standards of both pupils’ achievement and pupils’ health.”

Is this not pointless? It's the question of what goes on in homes which is the issue.

Schools really should just be about academic work.
